Alchemize – Bad Motives (2024)

Manchester-based four-piece Alchemize are hitting hard with their new single ‘Bad Motives’. This genre-melting outfit has a bold sound utilizing three vocalists which keeps it fresh and exciting. Adding InRetrospect’s Nathan Biddles does nothing but elevate the track further, showcasing all that the UK metal scene has to offer.

From the opening bars of this track, I felt a flash of nostalgia harking back to the sound crafted by nu-metal big hitters such as Limp Bizkit and Korn in the late 90’s. The opening riff had me tapping away the same way I did when I first heard ‘Make Me Bad’ by Korn all the way back in ’99; this blended with mixing launches you straight into a powerful track. The transition between melodic singing, rapping and screaming is seamless, it really offers a true masterclass in nu-metal. The solo in the middle of the track solidifies Alchemize’s credentials as a metal powerhouse.

From start to finish this song had me enthralled and had me seeking out everything else out there by Alchemize. Thankfully with the release of ‘Bad Motives’, we got ‘Upside Down’ and ‘Weight in Gold’. Both tracks are much more of the same and well worth a listen. Thanks to bands like Alchemize, the British metal scene is really exciting at the minute. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for any shows heading my way. I’m confident this sound can only intensify live to deliver a truly special show.

Positive signs for the future came in our interview with the band back in July, indicating they have no plans of slowing down and in their own words said “We are excited for the future and can’t wait to see how people react to new songs, live shows and new music videos. This isn’t the last you’ll hear of us! “ Until then their four singles on Spotify will hold court in my playlists for the foreseeable future.
