Agon Branza – Glitter Guns (2020)

Agon Branza is a singer-songwriter, born in Lisbon and based on London. He music is influenced by his studies of cinema and music for film creating harmonically rich music with a distinct narrative structure. His debut single ‘Glitter Guns’ is a headfirst dive into everything he has to offer.

The song looks at the uncomfortable waters of self-awareness. It reflects on the paralysis we all feel in the face of normalised oppression. The single is an inner dialogue looking at how apathy takes over when change seems to be impossible.

‘Glitter Guns’ wastes no time introducing you to Branza’s vocals. They hook you with their smoothness and build in power to thrust you into the track. Branza is emotive in his performance while driving the message of the track home. The song has a confessional style to the lyrics and a theatrical tone.

While the vocals are smooth, the underlying melody is a different story. There are sombre piano notes throughout the song to match the vocals, but there are synths that stutter in and out. This adds an extra dimension to the track and at times give the track a static that makes you think something is going to break through.

‘Glitter Guns’ is a multi-layered debut single from Agon Branza highlighting his vocals and rhapsodic arrangement. The combination of strong piano chords and stuttering synths creates a cinematic feel to the song.
