A Chat with Noah Richardson (21.08.22)

With unique obscurity lingering in his ethereal pop style, singer-songwriter Noah Richardson is a sonic gem amidst pebbles – and you need to check him out! The US-based artist speaks with us about his debut album Dead To Me, what type of food he would be, future plans and more!

OSR: What and/or who inspired you to pursue a musical career?

Richardson: Honestly, as corny as it sounds, I had a bit of a rough childhood and I remember as a kid wanting to be a musician. Coming back to it at 20, I felt like I owed it to that 12-year-old kid to pursue it.

OSR: Is there a backstory or theme to your album Dead To Me?

Richardson: What’s funny to note actually is that I grew up in a funeral home (I swear I’m still kinda normal). This is kind of where I learned to sing and write music and I wanted to bring all this imagery into the album. For example, the cover art was taken at my house… in our own coffin. ?

OSR: Did you have any problems recording the album?

Richardson: It was so hard to stay patient once a song was finished. I remember finishing Dead To Me and wanting to release it like that day. Partially because I was still mad at the person it was about though. ?

OSR: Describe Noah Richardson as a person in one sentence.

Richardson: Being bipolar I find it sooo difficult to answer these questions honestly, I’m almost different every day.

OSR: What do you hope people take from your music?

Richardson: I found music to be my only friend in some cases, and sometimes a song understands you more than anyone ever could. I hope to provide that for people… music’s done that for me all my life.

OSR: Is Dead To Me a significant recording for you?

Richardson: 100%. Not only it being my debut album but really a time capsule of so many memories and things that have happened over the past year, good and bad. I’m beyond excited to share this with the world.

OSR: If you were a type of food, what food would you be?

Richardson: I would probably be a chicken parm. I really wish I was, to be honest. If I was ever hungry, I’d just take a nice chunk out of my arm.

OSR: Do you have future plans as a musician?

Richardson: I’m so excited, honestly. With shows coming up and being able to play all these songs live to people, I really can’t wait.

OSR: Do you have a message for our readers?

Richardson: Thank you so much for tuning in!!! Hope you got to know me a bit and make sure you check out my debut album Dead To Me!
