A Chat with ChiodoSupply (14.01.25)

Entwining rich, poetic lyricism, and moving, eclectic music, ChiodoSupply’s melodies ensnare senses and intoxicate audiences. From his punk rock roots to strong Americana vibes, US-based ChiodoSupply traverses various genres while retaining genuineness and authenticity. We speak with ChiodoSupply about his debut album 1919, future plans, artist evolution and more.

OSR: What drew you to music? Why did you choose to pursue a musical career?

ChiodoSupply: Music has always been a way for me to process life – every struggle, every triumph, every quiet moment. I’ve been writing songs since I was a kid, and it became my way of connecting to the world. Punk rock was my entry point because it was raw and rebellious, just like I was. My grandfather was a lounge singer, my grandmother a piano teacher, pursuing music wasn’t so much a decision as it was the natural progression of everything I’ve felt and experienced

OSR: You recently released your full-length album 1919. What can you tell us about it?

ChiodoSupply: 1919 is my heart on a record. It’s an album that pays tribute to the history we carry – both personally and as a society. It’s gritty, honest, and a little unpolished in the best way. The songs pull from stories of struggle, resilience, and redemption, all wrapped in Americana with a rebellious edge leftover from my days as a punker with a spiked bracelet on.

OSR: Your press release mentions that this album showcases your transformation from punk rock to Americana. How important do you think exploring new genres and evolution is for musicians, and why?

ChiodoSupply: Music is a living, breathing thing. It’s art. Its not meant to be perfect and it should change as you do. For me, moving into Americana felt like a natural progression – it gave me space to tell stories with more depth while still holding onto that punk rock energy and spirit. Staying in one place musically can feel safe, but it can also feel like a cage. Evolution is important because it reflects who you are now, not who you were then. It’s a way to stay true.

OSR: What do you hope people take from your music and 1919?

ChiodoSupply: I hope they hear something that feels real, something that speaks to their own experiences or helps them process their own struggles. Whether it’s comfort, catharsis, or just a moment of connection, I want my music to make people feel safe, be seen. I hope people hear themselves in the songs. Maybe a lyric hits home, or a melody brings back a memory they forgot they had.

OSR: What do you take from 1919?

ChiodoSupply: This album was as much for me as it was for anyone else. It’s a reflection of where I’ve been and where I’m going. It gave me a chance to confront parts of my story I hadn’t fully faced, and to turn them into something beautiful. It’s like closure, but also a beginning. Change is good, even when it’s uncomfortable. This album challenged me in ways I didn’t expect, and I came out of it more confident as an artist.

OSR: I know most musicians are unable to choose a favourite track, but which is yours from 1919, if you had to choose?

ChiodoSupply: If I absolutely had to pick, it’d be ‘Broken’. There’s something haunting and beautiful about it – it’s a song that feels like it’s always been waiting to be written. It’s a nod to the resilience of people who refuse to be broken. A song that hits a deeply personal chord for me, It’s about resilience and growth, and every time I play it, I feel it in my bones.

OSR: This is your debut album, if Spotify serves me correctly. What challenges did you face producing the album, and how did you overcome any problems? Also, what were the most exciting parts of creating the album?

ChiodoSupply: The biggest challenge was finding the balance between staying true to my punk roots and embracing this Americana sound. There’s always a bit of imposter syndrome when you’re stepping into something new. But keeping it simple and trusting my instincts helped.

The most exciting part? Watching the songs come to life in the studio – hearing them evolve from scribbles in a notebook has always been the number one reason I love making music. Not having my band anymore gave me some doubt, but I am proud of the art that I created on my own and think I will only get better at writing and composing this type of music.

OSR: What advice do you have for upcoming artists?

ChiodoSupply: Authenticity beats perfection every time. Be authentic. Don’t chase trends or try to fit into someone else’s mold. Your unique voice is what people will connect with. And don’t let fear stop you – with music like all types of art, you really can’t fail, you just create.

OSR: What can we expect from ChiodoSupply in the future?

ChiodoSupply: More music, for sure. I’m always writing, and I’m already recording rough tracks for the next record. There will be more stories to tell, I’m just getting started.

OSR: Do you have a message for our readers?

ChiodoSupply: Whatever road you’re on, whatever you’re going through don’t stop, keep going. Life isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. And if you ever need a soundtrack to your journey, I hope you’ll find something in my music that resonates.
