A Chat with Cash Fortune (05.08.2020)

Music has always been a part of Cash Fortune’s life from the moment he joined the church choir to now. Using his passion for music, he has released his debut single ‘Urn’d It’ which is full of emotion and looks at overcoming any obstacle. We sat down with Cash Fortune (CF) to talk about his debut single, his creative process, music and much more!

OSR: Is there a specific person who influenced your decision to become a musician?

CF: The person who inspired to do was my best friend Julius.

OSR: What is the backstory of ‘Urn’d It’?

CF: It started as just a thought or concept. I didn’t even know what the name of the song would be, it kinda just made itself. In the beginning, I was going to name the song ‘Nothing’, but that seemed too simple. Then I began playing with the word ‘Earned’ which lead to ‘Urn’ and the rest is history.

OSR: When writing ‘Urn’d It’, did you start with the melody or lyrics?

CF: It’s always melody just because I don’t want to force anything when I am making a song. I wanted it to have a natural flow and vibe, and once that is done the lyrics come into play.

OSR: This is your first single, why this song?

CF: Initially, this was not going to be the first song off my upcoming project it was another song. However, this song spoke a lot clearer to my wave of thinking.

OSR: What do you enjoy most about being a musician?

CF: The Creativity. My Passion. My First Love.

OSR: What is the one thing you would like people to remember about you?

CF: No matter what song I create, I want people to feel it really feel it. I never do a song half way.

CF: I can do the Emo Voice.

OSR: What is the worst advice you have ever been given?

CF: That I would never be able to do hip-hop/rap music.

OSR: If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing right now?

CF: I would be a comic book artist.

OSR: What can we expect from you in the future?

CF: Expect me to continue to grow and become a more complete artist , and to share it with the world.
