Genesis Z and the Black Mambas – Karnivor (2020)

Genesis Z is a singer-songwriter, musician, producer and videographer from the Philippines with a long history of working in the music industry. He produced music for various artists and was part of the band De5tro. He is back with his new band the Black Mambas with members Geoffrey Giordano, Lucky aka Beatz, Red and Dustin Manucci.

The band’s debut single ‘Karnivor’ has now dropped and is the next step in his musical journey. The song features Redman and is an interesting collision of rock, funk and rap. There is an upcoming music video for the track also featuring Redman. The song is all about a woman who will eat you alive.

‘Karnivor’ gets you into the vibe of the track from the first pounding notes. There is a funky beat to the melody that gets you moving your body to the song, there is no other option. Throughout the track, there are some interesting notes that hit you from behind that add a little something to the proceedings.

While the melody is fun and gets you moving, it is not the focus on the track. Genesis Z’s vocals are a smooth counter to the funky tones but just as engaging. If you were to take the melody away, you would still move to the beat of the vocal performance. The combination of funky vocals with rap thrown in makes this a fun song to listen to and will make you happy while it plays. The beat will also stick in your head for a while.

Genesis Z and the Black Mambas team up with Redman to get you moving to ‘Karnivor’. The track is the funky driving addition you need to any party playlist. If you are looking for a song to hype you up while having a good time, this is the one for you.
