Danny Wright – Broken Youth (2020)

Coming out of London, Danny Wright has been hailed as ‘The Prince of Pop Punk’ by the BBC. He is one of the leading voices for a new generation of rebels and misfits. Wright has played across the world as the frontman of bands DissolvedIN and We Are Lost Boys, but his solo career is really setting the stage.

His ability and willingness to tackle his fears shines through in his music and attracts listeners. His take on modern anxiety produces an uplifting and encouraging soundtrack to life for everyone who needs it. His latest single ‘Broken Youth’ continues this and is a rallying cry for any young people who are tired of being ignored.

The inspiration for the track is the feeling of being misunderstood by older generations because of perceived non-compliance. The song is meant to be an anthem about breaking away from the conformity of old ideals and embracing your individuality. The strong rock start to the song sets the tone of this modern anthem while Wright’s vocals are clear and bright.

While Wright brings a unique sound to ‘Broken Youth’, it does remind me of the anti-establishment tracks from Sum 41, Blink 182, and New Found Glory. The lyrics are easy to connect with and explain the problems the listener is facing. The track also lifts you up and lets you know it is fine to be who you are and to be unapologetic about it.

‘Broken Youth’ is an amazing track from Danny Wright and could easily become the anthem of a new generation of misfits and rebels. The song encapsulates everything that younger people feel about how they are viewed by certain older individuals. It also leaves you knowing that being different and unique is nothing to be ashamed of.
