The Attic Movement – Warm Light of Your Love (2020)

The Attic Movement all started in a dusty Sheffield loft. In the loft, frontman Matt Williams set himself a 30-day challenge to write a song a day. This challenge was the catalyst that led to the creation of the band. Since then, The Attic Movement released their debut single in May 2019. This is followed up by their new single ‘Warm Light of Your Love’.

The song, written by Williams, is a tale of the strongest type of love. The one that makes you forget about everything that has come before it. The track is already a strong fan favourite and it is easy to hear why. The melodic tones of the opening match perfectly with Williams’ clear vocals to set the foundation of the tale.

The gentle guitar sways you while the lyrics help you envision the type of love the song is based on. While the song has hints of alt-country, the wailing slide guitar and smooth vocals give it a completely unique sound. You can hear the sincerity in the song and while reminiscent of the songwriting of Glen Hansard it has its own unique turn. This sincerity adds to the message of the track and makes you believe that love for one person can outshine all those who came before, even for the sentimental.

If you are looking for a tender track to listen to on repeat, ‘Warm Light of Your Love’ by The Attic Movement is it. I confess to listening to it more times than necessary, but couldn’t stop myself. The sincere lyrics, harmonies and wailing slide guitar combine into an excellent and compelling track.
