Tarita – The Grand Old Dance of Love and Hate (2025)

A scientist by day and singer-songwriter by night, weekends and the odd afternoon here and there, Tarita’s musical aspirations burn bright even after an 18-year hiatus. In her early twenties, while residing in the UK and Poland, Tarita played covers, but the desire to share original stories through music burned in her chest – not literally, of course. Skip ahead almost two decades, and the artist fans the flames of songwriting as she returns with a brilliant flourish. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘The Grand Old Dance of Love and Hate’.

Recorded and produced with Archit Tak, ‘The Grand Old Dance of Love and Hate’ follows Tarita’s well-received single ‘Summer Fling’. Similar to ‘Summer Fling’, the new track leans toward a blues meets soul sentimentality; however, Tarita proves herself a musical alchemist as she concocts a brand of inimitable music. Ranging from jazz and soul to soft rock with shimmers of classic rock pecking with the soaring guitars. Interestingly, just as ‘The Grand Old Dance of Love and Hate’ oozes vintage rock and jazz, an indie-pop casing binds the melody giving the song familiarity but refreshing new-ness.

More haunting than ‘Summer Fling’ and ‘Digital Void’, ‘The Grand Old Dance of Love and Hate’ weaves themes of vulnerability, fragility and poignant melancholy into pulsating drums, dynamic guitars, a bold bass and darting percussion. Yet, as the weightiness of an intimate narrative captures the complexities of evolving friendships, there is a warm sense of empowerment, self-discovery and acceptance. Tarita explains:

“My latest single, ‘The Grand Old Dance Of Love And Hate’ is a heartfelt reflection on the evolving dynamics of friendship. Inspired by reconnecting with a once-inseparable friend after years apart, the song explores the bittersweet process of drifting away and the acceptance of personal growth. Through raw storytelling and emotive delivery, the track invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences of change and memory.”
