TaniA Kyllikki – Feel Good Vibes (2024)
In our review of ‘I Struck Gold With You’, I described TaniA Kyllikki as “the younger sister of Alicia Keys…”; however, her new single ‘Feel Good Vibes’ finds Kyllikki showcasing further diversity, eclecticism, and stepping out of the RnB mould. If you aren’t sure who TaniA Kyllikki is, then here’s a quick recap: hailing from the UK, the one-woman wonder has been featured on numerous music charts (including Amazon’s Top Hot 100 Pop Albums), turned heads with international publications, intoxicates with her powerful performances, and collaborates with Grammy award-winning industry professionals. Come with us as we delve into her latest release, ‘Feel Good Vibes’.
Following the well-received single ‘I Struck Gold With You’, Kyllikki ends off 2024 with a few minutes of genre-diverse sound. In ‘Feel Good Vibes’, the UK-based singer-songwriter creates a concoction of pop music fluttering from electronic pop to house and downtempo tones… and then she steps beyond with an experimental flair. Shifting from the RnB sound heard in previous material, the new single is an evolution in Kyllikki’s style – or perhaps it’s Kyllikki showing us another side to her personality.
Produced in collaboration with Rynellton and Jamaal Davis, ‘Feel Good Vibes’ is a rush of hard-hitting music from the first beat. Interestingly, while one can hear the professionalism of the sophisticated synth-meets-electropop beats melody, there remains a rawness within the mellifluous pop song flow. A tune made for the dancefloor, pulsating beats fuel brashness within smoothness; however, it is not the instrumentation that makes ‘Feel Good Vibes’ special for me. It is Kyllikki’s vocals.
Rich, bright, warm and comforting, Kyllikki takes centre stage with her enticing voice. Prominent in the production, vocals seem to carry the track with the synth base lingering below; honestly, we don’t mind. Perhaps this is the golden ribbon carefully capturing every second with gentle, laidback, fun grooves. Yet, while the track oozes charm and grace, the short rap offers abrupt cheekiness in a moving melody.
Melodically, ‘Feel Good Vibes’ is a positive, empowering, hopeful song, and the lyricism enhances this theme. Kyllikki explains:
“’Feel Good Vibes’ encourages resilience and living your best life despite obstacles. Positive energy and thought underpin this song… Celebration and living in the moment…”
