Following his well-received EP Tales By The Singing Guitars, ‘If You Saw Me Now’ is a wave of classic rock and hard rock with a folk-rock vibe fluttering along. Highly reminiscent of the 1970s and 1980s rock scene, the soaring guitars match a bold drum with twinkling keyboards shining from below. Interestingly, while ‘If You Saw Me Now’ has a soothing lilt, it is also forceful as powerful guitars wash across your face with intoxicating flair.
Bold and confident but vulnerable and haunting, ‘If You Saw Me Now’ seeps into your skin capturing your soul while delicately tapping at emotional fragility. The thing is, just as the song taps into turmoil, it also inserts hopefulness and empowerment. It is this overall duality that makes ‘If You Saw Me Now’ an intriguing listen. Dahl explains:
“‘If You Saw Me Now’ is a song written about obstacles and issues associated with mental health. Writing the lyrics turned out to become a very honest and personal process for me… I am convinced that everyone will experience moments in life that evoke despair, anxiety and fear… However, you should never give up fighting back these moments, even if it feels like you are in an endless battle that slowly drains you of all of your energy and faith in overcoming the maelstrom trying to pull you down… I hope ‘If You Saw Me Now’ can provide inspiration and strength to everyone that is facing difficult and challenging times.”
