PREMIERE: The Púcas – Christmas In Galway (2024)

The younger, spritelier, more charming and innocent brother of Michael Bublé, The Púcas bring heartfelt cheer in a toe-tapping sonic wrapper to any audience. An up-and-coming folk-pop band from Ireland, their music is refreshing, and the lads are already earning a reputation for intricate, tender, engaging melodies. It’s not only the tune that offers a refreshing lift to your soul, but the lyricism is profound and poetic adding a certain weightiness to the music. Join us as we delve into their single, ‘Christmas In Galway’.

Drawing together the natural talent of Adam O’Shea and Fergal O’Hanlon, ‘Christmas In Galway’ grasps at their love of traditional Irish music but with a dash of contemporary pop tossed into the mix. From the outset, ‘Christmas In Galway’ offers a smooth, soothing, gentle Irish lilt making it seem one of those lullabies from ye olde Ireland. Interestingly, as the bold vocals enhance the warmth of the track, a haunting eeriness lingers in the melody.

Showcasing the beauty of an acoustic arrangement, ‘Christmas In Galway’ embraces simplicity with a twinkling piano, light percussion and a skin-tingling fiddle riding the melodic wave. Yet, as simplistic and barebones as the track might be, a hearty rush of hope and optimism fills with kaleidoscopic glory. Beyond the Christmas parties, the exciting presents, and the dash of indulgence many have each Christmas, The Púcas glance at the sober side of things; however, it’s not just to create awareness, but to embrace the season of giving with ‘Christmas In Galway’.

A charity single for The Galway Hospice – a hospice looking after 1000 patients and their families every year including inpatient care, daycare, care-in homes, medical social work and bereavement support – ‘Christmas In Galway’ invites us to reflect on cherished memories and appreciate the simple things in life.

Sincere, sentimental, honest and genuine, I can tell you which Christmas song will fill my house this year, and it isn’t anything from Michael Bublé.

In addition to the single, The Púcas bring you a glimpse of their joyful Christmas season with their music video for ‘Christmas In Galway’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
