Tally Koren – Free Will (VIP) (2024)

Inspired by life in all its abundance, singer-songwriter Tally Koren looks at experiences, takes them all in and inspires audiences with an optimistic, empowering take on reality. She’s aware there’s ugly stuff in life, but there is beauty within the tragedy, and it is this that she hopes to convey with her intimate melodies. From our discovery of Koren in 2022 with ‘The Garden Of Love’ (she was around over a decade before our introduction), we remain astounded with each single she shares; we’re not the only ones. Establishing her reputation as a notable force in the pop music industry, Koren has performed at iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall while also reaching the 10 of commercial pop charts cementing her place amidst the likes of Taylor Swift.

Following her well-received singles ‘1000 Stars’ and ‘What Was I Made For?’, UK-based Koren releases her latest single ‘Free Will (VIP)’. Produced with Pascal Magdinie and Hez Theo, ‘Free Will (VIP)’ steps away from her alternative pop sound weaving a Latin pop flavour into the upbeat melody. Truthfully, the commercial pop vein lingers in the song; however, a strong Latin sound leads the guitar-driven track. Perhaps the collaboration with guitarist Eric Fernandez who previously worked with the Gypsy Kings is the driving force of the Spanish flair.

The melody itself is enchanting with the intoxicating guitar melding with Koran’s insatiable sultry vocals, but the lyricism and concept of the song is as moving. Keeping to her reputation for being a light in the dark, ‘Free Will (VIP)’ oozes sensuality and sincerity resonating with an intimate rush of optimism. Koren explains:

“For me, ‘Free Will’ is not just a song – it’s a journey about resilience, commitment, and my life purpose to inspire people to make the best choices in life, have the courage to go for their dreams, never give up, and take every rejection to become better.”
