Described as fearless and brilliant, Timkin’s music boldly explores the complexity of reality and, well, merely being. Co-produced with Tom Wilding, ‘The Difference’ is a concoction of shimmering synths, dynamic percussion and a strong piano leading the way. Interestingly, while there is an enigmatic mysticism to the track, its intricate arrangement delves into the world of wistful melody with sonic precision. In other words, Timkin leads you on a musical journey with vibrant confidence but maintains a whimsical quality.

Lingering at the door of alternative pop with avant-garde sentimentalities, Timkin beats to her own drum in ‘The Difference’. Melodically, the track oozes off-kilter mystery; however, it is Timkin’s vocals that truly add something special. Like a siren, she sings with hushed obscurity and allure. Yet, the husky draw is not dark or tragic; instead, it is optimistic, hopeful and empowering. When speaking of the message behind the tune, Timkin explains:

“I wrote this song when I was going through a rough patch, and it really helped me get some perspective and stop worrying about the big picture that I couldn’t quite piece together at the time. One step forward makes a huge difference to where you are right now…”
