La Femme – Clover Paradise (2024)

For some odd reason, France has always held an alluring charm and obscure excitement for me. Is it the language? Is it their style? Is it Notre Dame? Is it Alain Delon? Who knows, but there is something special – joie de vivre; well, at least it’s embodied by the group La Femme. Late to the party, this is my introduction to the genre-diverse band, and I happily join a sea of international fans enchanted by La Femme’s confidence, eclecticism and innovation. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Clover Paradise’.

On the heels of their well-received single ‘Ciao Paris!’, ‘Clover Paradise’ further pushes the boundaries of La Femme’s unique sound. Unconventional and experimental, La Femme is known for their blending of pop, synthwave, post-punk, indie-rock, and a ton of other genres twinkling beneath; ‘Clover Paradise’ is a drag back to 80s-influenced post-punk with scorching classic rock slicing through the melody.

A combination of shimmering keys with crashing drums and soaring guitars, ‘Clover Paradise’ is a melodic rollercoaster taking you away in a rush of sound. It completely ensnares your senses, particularly the powerful guitar riffs splattered throughout the track. Yet, as much as it takes your mind to another dimension, there is profoundness brimming in its dramatic sonic duality.

Smooth and mellifluous with wistful nonchalance, the airy vocals entwine with skin-chilling percussion and synths, all creating a whimsical twirl of music. Interestingly, while one bobs away on careless ripples, an intricate arrangement and rush of classic rock define the song as poignant, weighty, and soulful. Light and airy but with a darker, deeper hit of reality, ‘Clover Paradise’ tackles human vulnerabilities in a wall of complex but comforting energy.

In addition to the single, La Femme released an official music video for ‘Clover Paradise’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
