Brooke Moriber – So Do I (2024)

With an unusual introduction to the performing arts, Brooke Moriber began her journey at a young age performing professionally on Broadway with a burgeoning career in the industry; however, a rare eye disease would have the teenage Moriber look elsewhere for creative outlets. Turning to songwriting to cope with the potential loss of eyesight, she began sharing stories through poetic songs. Four difficult years later, the condition went into remission and Moriber travelled to Nashville with her moving melodies. Today, we find her an established country music sensation quickly making a name for herself far beyond her US borders. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘So Do I’.

Following her well-received singles ‘Half A Heart’ and ‘More Love’, the New York native offers a blend of pop and country in ‘So Do I’. Recorded and produced in Nashville by Karen Kosowski and David Kalmusky, with mixing by Craig Alvin and mastering by Greg Calbi, ‘So Do I’ is an elegant, sophisticated rush of kaleidoscopic music. Combining the country twang of banjos and guitars with the pop-influenced synths, drums and bass, ‘So Do I’ presents a harmonic symphony of diverse genres. Joined by musicians Sol Littlefield (electric guitar), Marc Rogers (electric bass and synth bass), Justin Schipper (steel guitar), Nathan Chapman (acoustic guitar, resonator guitar and banjo) and Chad Cromwell (drums), Moriber carefully walks that delicate line between organic and synthetic arrangements.

The melody stands tall as proof of originality, innovation and authenticity, but the profound lyricism really captures my heart. Touching on the complexities of lost love, Moriber’s rich vocals contain warmth interwoven with raw vulnerability, fragility, frustration and tragedy. A song about “admitting your regrets in ending a relationship and hoping that the one you lost feels as lost without you…”, ‘So Do I’ is a deep reflection of the grittiest parts of a broken relationship.

In addition to the single, Moriber released an official music video for ‘So Do I’. You can view the video below and on her YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
