Chandra – Lifted (2024)
With their infectious blend of pop-rock, pop-punk and alternative rock, UK-based Chandra makes people grin with every second of their music. Unafraid to explore the human condition, from joyful bliss to gritty despair, the foursome connects with audiences on an intimate, personal level. In their single ‘Pretty’, Chandra explored individuality and originality, then ‘I’ll Be There’ highlighted the beauty of simple acts in making people feel wanted, allowing Chandra to remove feelings of isolation and despair and flooding listeners with hope, optimism and empowerment. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Lifted’.
Following the well-received single ‘I’ll Be There’, Chandra dips once again into the melting pot of 90s/2000s rock in ‘Lifted’. Strongly drawn to the pop-rock tones of Weezer and McFly, the new single might be as hard-hitting as previous material but with soothing calm flickering through the melody. Produced with Elliot Vaughan, Keith Jones’ powerful drums back Chris Wong’s bold bass with Rock Cheung’s soaring guitar leading the way in a kaleidoscopic flair. For me, however, it is Chandra Nair’s rich vocals that bind the powerful ‘Lifted’, but he allows neon lights to shine from the arrangement placing every listener in a fairy light-filled sonic haze.
Capturing the feeling of pure excitement and unexpected thrill of having the best day ever, ‘Lifted’ is a combination of festival vibes, rollercoaster freedom and “the weekend is finally here” relief – all washing over you in with a splash of contentment. Chandra explains:
“We wrote this song so that wherever you are, whatever kind of day you’ve had, you can sing along and feel awesome. The thing is, having a brilliant day isn’t an everyday occurrence but the vibe is infectious… Sometimes you wake up and it’s hard to have a positive outlook on the day, but I’ve found that if you go into the day smiling and full of positivity, it affects everyone around you and you’re basically inviting good vibes…”
In addition to the single, Chandra released an official music video for ‘Lifted’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
