The Chris Ruben Band – MONEY (2024)
If Mickey Mouse and Speedy Gonzales found the Roadrunner’s stash then sit back to enjoy the psychedelic fumes, The Chris Ruben Band is what they would hear. High-powered vibes woven with infectious explosions of rock, but simultaneously a soothing groove in the up-tempo tunes, The Chris Ruben Band is an experience and not only a song. Combining the natural talents of Chris Ruben (vocals and guitar), Brendan Allan (bass), Eugene Iovine (keyboards and strings), Russ Miller (drums), Frank Iovine (keys, synth and saxophone) and Nick Marino (guitar), the US-based band garners a constantly growing following far behind their North American borders. Join us as we jump headfirst into their latest single, ‘MONEY’.
This is not our first immersion into The Chris Ruben Band’s melodies as we discovered them with 2021’s ‘Won’t See You’, and we’ve followed them loyally ever since. On the heels of their well-received track ‘PARASITE’, Ruben and his crew fuse elements of indie-rock and pop-rock with slips of synth-pop clinging to the melody. Self-recorded and produced, ‘MONEY’ is a blast of chaos but with harmonic symphony lingering in the tune – a true representation of the scorning dependency on capitalistic means within an uncertain reality felt by the common man.
As I mentioned, ‘MONEY’ is a mash of madness from the outset. In its delicate hurricane of music, Miller’s drums crash behind while Ruben and Marino’s searing guitars twirl you about; Allan’s bass steadies the anchor, but Iovine’s (both of them) keyboards twinkle in a flickering flash of fairy lights. The stabilising factor is Chris Ruben’s rich, warm vocals holding you close in a slightly terrifying mass of kaleidoscopic insanity. Fun and crazy but with a profound theme lying beneath, Ruben shares that “…’MONEY’ bangs hard and is definitely a song we can all sing along and relate to…”
In addition to the single, The Chris Ruben Band released an official music video for ‘MONEY’. You can view the video below and on their YouTube channel.
