John Taglieri – Oh, There You Are (2024)

With over 20 years of experience in the music industry, it’s rather safe to say singer-songwriter John Taglieri is no newbie or stranger to success. Over the years, the veteran musician has released numerous albums and singles to critical acclaim, as well as winning multiple songwriting awards including a JOSIE ‘Song of the Year’. One intriguing aspect of Taglieri is his devotion to “…the DIY concept to an extreme level…”; this means he has released albums and toured internationally with no major financial backing in place. Total proof that you don’t need anyone else to reach your dreams. The latest addition to his extensive discography is the single ‘Oh, There You Are’.

Following his well-received singles ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Part Time Love’, ‘Oh, There You Are’ is Taglieri’s first release in 2024, as well as an evolution in his sound. At first listen, one might label the track as a pop-rock tune leaning toward 90s rock sounds – a real shift from lighter indie-pop. Yet, just as you feel comfortable in a single genre, Taglieri does a 180 trapping you in a shambles of alternative meets hard rock linked through an alternative pop soundscape. In other words, no clue what’s going on, but it is very different from previous work and highlights Taglieri’s diversity.

Penned and recorded with veteran producer Munk Duane, and mastered by Grammy winner Brian Lucey, ‘Oh, There You Are’ is a cinematic flush of bold guitars, powerful bass and crashing drums. As you walk through the kaleidoscopic haze, hints of strings and horns slink about bringing a haunting obscurity that is eerie but beautifully warm to the tune. For me, however, it is the vocals that bind the musical experience. Brash and abrupt but with rich depth, Taglieri and Duane’s tones lift your heart, hold you close and push you to “…find that new place to go when you thought you were at the end of your journey…”
