The Infinity Process – Glitches (2024)

Describing themselves as a “family business”, married couple Jason Tingley (guitar and bass) and Kimberly Tingley (vocals), and Kimberly’s cousin Brent Gfell (drums) combine their musical talents as The Infinity Process. Founded about a decade ago, The Infinity Process is not a new project and has established itself as a hard-hitting rock band exploring different varieties of rock in their boundary-breaking sound. Following their well-received 2022 singles ‘Dystopia’ and ‘Losing Reality’, the group return to streaming sites with their new single ‘Glitches’.

Similar to previous material, The Infinity Process brings a hard rock tone in ‘Glitches’, however, a shift in their signature sound seems to exist. Leaning further toward melodic metal, the pounding drums, bold bass and scorching guitars hit you between the eyes from the first second. Soothing and harmonious in its hard rock heaviness, the instrumentation holds your hand as you explore a sonic forest full of creepy creatures.

While the melody offers an intimate connection, a rollercoaster of sound and emotion travels along ‘Glitches’. As if they were glitches in the song, there is a brash halt in the middle of the track before plastering more rich hard rock – a continuation of a silvery musical thread in the haunted forest. Then another glitch hits and you travel along an ambient ledge before Gfell’s crashing drums punch you in the chest over and over again like an electric, well, glitch. While all this hard-hitting insanity takes place, Kimberly Tingley’s vocals drift along with fairy-like haunting and skin-chilling eeriness.

“We wrote this song after marathoning the show Westworld. The idea of our life being a simulation was fascinating to us and opened our minds to the rise of artificial intelligence in our own lives. We thought about how we are tracked, every second by our cell phones, our social media pages, and how even the real things in life can feel fake in the current climate, and we were inspired by that.” – The Infinity Process on ‘Glitches’
