EnnieLoud – Out of danger (2024)

Compared to the likes of Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu with a unique flood of soulful RnB, UK-based EnnieLoud is a trailblazer in the music industry. Reaching far beyond their London borders, singer-songwriter Cassandra, Berlin DJ/producer BeeOff and multi-instrumentalist Ross draw together influences and styles in an inimitable melting pot of sound. While the plurality of the cross-European group oozes from their melodies, the diversity of North London’s Wood Green is interwoven in the kaleidoscopic sonic tapestry. This is our introduction to EnnieLoud, so hold your breath and pray for the best as we jump into their new single ‘Out of danger’.

Following the well-received 2020 single ‘The Best I Can’, EnnieLoud return to the scene after four years with ‘Out of danger’. Using a distinctive combination of vintage soul with modern-day RnB slicks, ‘Out of danger’ fits alongside previous material; however, a heavier poignant darkness lingers in the old-school RnB. Slight shoots of downtempo beats flutter across offering a cinematic ambience and the tips of an acoustic piano bring a silky splash to the track.

Smooth, soulful and exuding a kaleidoscopic tenderness, listening to ‘Out of danger’ is like finding a comfortable spot beneath a satin bedsheet. Cassandra’s warm vocals slip along with gentle sensuality; however, a distorted obscurity inserts a sense of fragility. The delicate interplay of confident clarity and vulnerable timidity captures all sides of being in love. EnnieLoud explains:

“The only way to feel really loved is baring. When it happens, you are not scared to suffer as you feel ‘out of danger’ and protected for what you are.”
