Avalon Stone – Drag Me (2024)
At the age of 10, singer-songwriter Avalon Stone discovered her love of music and began her musical journey. Quickly igniting the passionate sonic flame in her heart, Stone developed her natural talent for performance with, to date, over 300 shows beneath her belt. Known for her electric, energetic and intoxicating gigs, she quickly gained a loyal following from live audiences; however, her magical music turns heads internationally making waves far beyond her US borders. Magnetic and enchanting, Stone has shared the stage with acts like Big Wreck, Kim Mitchell and Sass Gorden, as well as collaborating with award-winning producer Kevin Dietz on her studio releases. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Drag Me’.
Following her critically acclaimed singles ‘Forget You’ and ‘Harder’, Stone takes another step into 2024 with the new track ‘Drag Me’. Produced by Kevin Dietz, ‘Drag Me’ is a powerful blast of grunge wrapped in a bold alternative rock wrapper. Joined by Caleb Bourgeois (lead guitar), Donovan McKinley (bass) and Wes Bartram (drums), the melody hits you between the eyes with its hard-hitting arrangement. Interestingly, while the punch between the eyes is from a harmonic rock sound, each instrument demands attention with individuality before culminating in a swirling symphonic masterpiece.
The melody certainly leaves an impression with soaring guitars, dynamic bass and pounding drums; however, Avalon Stone’s raw vocals add a skin-chilling haunting to ‘Drag Me’. Delicately exploring human fragility and internal conflict, the single offers a painful melancholy. Yet, just as it is desperate, a blink of empowering hopefulness flutters through the air. Stone explains:
“’Drag Me’ was born out of a period of deep reflection and undeniable hardship. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt like they’re being dragged through their toughest days. This song is a testament to the inner strength it takes to stand up each time we fall. Sometimes resilience isn’t figuring out how to do it alone, it’s accepting that we need help.”
