Abby London – War To Peace (2024)

From her 2021 single ‘Anxiety’ to 2022’s ‘Hysteria’ and 2023’s ‘I Wanna Go’, singer-songwriter Abby London finds resilience and empowerment in the grittiest parts of humanity. Primarily exploring relationships, her rebellious words and personal narrative soothe others facing toxic situations – and those who aren’t but love hopefulness in dark stories. Following her well-received single ‘I Wanna Go’, London steps into 2024 with the bold single ‘War To Peace’.

Dark and heavy in its alternative pop tone, the electronic beats act as a steady heartbeat pulsating in the melody. A soft piano belies the dark sound giving it a softer, more comfortable tinge shimmering with vulnerability. The brashness of synths hits with a bracing thwack seemingly suppressing the soul, but also giving us a challenge to overcome. For me, it is London’s vocals that wind about your heart bringing a deeper connection as she guides us through the dismal mire to enlightened optimism – the light at the end of the tunnel.

With poetic lyricism and a knack for telling stories, the profound lyricism adds depth to an already intricate tune. ‘War To Peace’ tackles toxic relationships from the victim’s side. From the inner turmoil of dealing with the toxic romance to the breath of fresh air as she makes her way to the peaceful side, London inserts astute insight into ‘War and Peace’. She explains:

“I remember seeing tragic story after tragic story online during #metoo. People posting so vulnerably. It was a dark time. I sat there with my laptop pondering things that had happened to me… ‘War To Peace’ isn’t just a song, it is a celebratory triumph of breaking the destructive patterns of being victimised. It will give hope to those who are still struggling and a renewed sense of confidence to those who have made it to the other side…”
