Micheal Fordays – The Stones Never Move (2024)

Falling in love with the electric guitar while still at school, singer-songwriter Micheal Fordays became engrossed in music “playing his way from parties to clubs to theatres all across the country with the rock band formed of school friends called Mind Over Four…” With Mind Over Four, Fordays toured extensively and released independent records earning him experience in the less-than-glittery side of the music industry. Skip ahead and Fordays played guitar for various artists, appeared in videos and toured for years as a guitarist and engineer earning the nickname “fordays” because he would spend days and days working.

For over a decade, at least according to Spotify, Micheal Fordays has released music as a solo project. Following the well-received album The Mind and Echoes, Fordays (vocals, guitar and bass) and Dave Klein (drums, keyboards and percussion) step into 2024 with the single ‘The Stones Never Move’.

Recorded and produced by Fordays and Klein, then mastered by Nick Townsend, ‘The Stones Never Move’ blasts from our speakers with a bold alternative rock sound. Tipping their hat at 90s rock with slips of Billy Talent washing across the scorching guitar and pounding drums, ‘The Stones Never Move’ hits you in the gut while lifting you in a sonic hurricane. While 90s rock flairs from the melody, a brief shimmer of 80s Bowie flutters through the vocals making ‘The Stones Never Move’ a nostalgic drag to yesteryear; however, a contemporary coolness adds modern-day style to the tune.

Tossing you from pillar to post with a chaotic rush of insanity, Micheal Fordays and Dave Klein echo brashness in the rock tone. Interestingly, as the guitar thrashes and the drums crash in melodic madness, a harmonious union exists bound by Fordays’ gruff but rich vocals. Fordays explains that ‘The Stones Never Move’ is “about moving beyond the obstacles and barriers in life to achieve success and achieving your dreams and goals” – as such, the song is a forceful testament to hope, resilience and the power of determination.
