Dirty Power – A Million Miles Away (2024)

Hitting our ears once again with a hard-hitting forceful rush of music, Dirty Power can send you spiralling down a tunnel of rock sounds but lift you up with gentle simplicity. We were introduced to Dirty Power with their single ‘I Did My Time’; however, our ears were not the only ones who felt the power. From the UK to the USA, Germany, France, Portugal and Brazil, Dirty Power has been described as memorising, hypnotic and transcending concepts with their innovative original melodies. Come with us as we delve into their latest single ‘A Million Miles Away’.

While Dirty Power tiptoes across various styles of rock, they often present a signature grunge sound to audiences. Following ‘I Did My Time’, ‘Said And Done’, and ‘Farewell’, the UK-based threesome cement themselves as a grunge-influenced band rocking the Nirvana and Radiohead tones, albeit with a slightly heavier beat. Taken from the Dirty Power’s upcoming album Gravitas, the three Irish rockers pay tribute to Rory Gallagher with a cover of ‘A Million Miles Away’.

Renowned for his energetic live performances and dedication to his craft, Rory Gallagher influenced some of the most well-known artists in the rock world. From Eric Clapton to Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Marr and Brian May, all cite Gallagher as an influential figure with his husky blend of blues-rock. Defined as the “musician’s musician”, Gallagher continues to influence artists almost thirty years after his death. The blues-filled rush of classic rock makes him iconic with ‘A Million Miles Away’ being one of his most well-known songs.

Instead of fixing the classic rock sound of Gallagher’s ‘A Million Miles Away’, Dirty Power add a unique contemporary flair branding the cover as a DP song through and through. While Gallagher’s classic blues-rock slithers through the melody embracing an old-school rock sound, the crash of pounding drums and bold guitars with forceful heaviness brings a hard rock spice to the track. Moreover, the rich vocals lean toward 90s bands like Three Days Grace with raw, gritty vulnerability oozing through the seams.

In addition to the single, Dirty Power released an official music video for ‘A Million Miles Away’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
