The Project – Hope (2024)

Recently reaching our ears with ‘Over you’, US-based group The Project is a hard-hitting band bringing the outstanding awesomeness of Cali-living to audiences across the globe. With the pound of a drum, the shriek of a guitar and bold vocals, The Project breathes life to the 2000s rock scene slicing from pop-rock to hard rock and a tinge of metal thereabouts.

As a member of the award-winning group Shameless, James Davis established himself as a lead guitarist of note; however, he chose to break into a “sound as influenced by the best of pop as it is of metal with his supergroup The Project”. Featuring James Davis, Shameless vocalist Jeff Plant and Pump5 drummer Andre Bonter, The Project is a new super-hero band of brothers taking the music scene by storm. Think of The Power Rangers, just a little cooler and with instruments.

Released near the end of 2023, ‘Hope’ is not only The Project’s fourth single, but one of the tracks off their upcoming album – a non-stop rollercoaster ride through the world of rock. Following the well-received single ‘whats it going to take’, ‘Hope’ plunges directly into the alternative rock sounds of yesteryear. With a hint of pop-rock and hard rock slicing through the single, ‘Hope’ connects the sounds of Billy Talent, Green Day, Seether and Three Doors Down.

Recorded and produced by Dennis Hill, Steven Barnett and Mike Troolines (mixing and mastering) at California-based Arrowhead West Studio, ‘hope’ is a rush of Bonter’s pounding drums, Davis’s powerful guitars and Plant’s bold vocals elegantly bound by the glittering band of kaleidoscopic rock. Connecting each chord with a charming slide of sound, ‘hope’ sets you adrift on a smooth sonic river softly bobbing along each ripple. Gently caressing you with the mystical music, you are lulled into a swirl of comfort following a shining light on the beautiful shore.

Not a song to be merely heard but also experienced, ‘Hope’ is a soul-stirring song brimming with pulse-racing strands of soothing rock. Yet, the intensity and significance of the single exceeds a mere melody. Breathing life into rock of yesteryear, The Project transcend decades and generations connecting everyone with an unbreakable thread – the glistening power of music.
