Dr Dawsound – Electric Heartbeat (2024)

Defined as a “classic beatmaker”, French producer and songwriter Dr Dawsound ignores loops and samples for note-by-note composition. The result: modern-day electropop melodies with shimmers of vintage sound. Finding the line between contemporary and retro, Dr Dawsound transcends time with his music reaching and resonating with audiences of all ages. Not a singer and not a live performer, he sits in the background – his music is the confident presence we need. However, to keep the tune tight, he collaborates with notable international artists adding a voice to his songs. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Electric Heartbeat’.

Composing in various styles, Dr Dawsound can have you swaying to Latin pop before pumping your fist in the air to rock, then chilling back with some good old reggae. Following his electropop single ‘Stellar Pulse’, Dr Dawsound captures a pop sound in ‘Electric Heartbeat’. Influenced by Dua Lipa’s ‘Physical’, but with some more electronic beats in the back, the synth-pop sound bounces off the walls with pop-filled joviality. Interestingly, while he defines the inspiration for ‘Electric Heartbeat’ as Dua Lipa, I find a whisper of 80s synth-pop fluttering through this single. Think A-Ha with Pet Shop Boys layered over Dua Lipa.

The second single released in 2024, Dr Dawsound once again collaborates with award-winning mixing engineer Daniela Rivera – known for her work with Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Coldplay and many more. Combining Rivera’s skills within all of his songs, there is a fusion of old-school classic production and a modern-day hit of synths. Unlike ‘Stellar Pulse’, ‘Electric Heartbeat’ uses female vocals lifting the tone with the punch of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.

Dr Dawsound explains that ‘Electric Heartbeat’ is a “pop dance electro in an RnB universe where you let yourself be carried away with your partner in a jubilant dance”. The next song to be released is the Latin pop song ‘Amor de Verano (Summer Love)’. Based on ‘Stellar Pulse’ and ‘Electric Heartbeat’, I am eager to hear more from this talented artist.
