Matt DeAngelis – Free At Last (2024)

Eager to promote positivity and hopefulness among people experiencing trials, tribulations and inner struggles, Matt DeAngelis uses his music to “take a negative and turn it into a positive”. Since the age of 8, DeAngelis discovered a passion for music and has continued developing his sound internalising his experiences and proudly sharing optimism and empowerment. DeAngelis reached our ears in 2022 with his single ‘Real Future’ where his unique sound uplifted our spirits, and he placed a positive spin on issues once again in ‘Change Your Ways’. While he remains a firm favourite with our team, we are not the only ones whose heads have been turned. From France to the UK, Brazil and the USA, DeAngelis is described as heartfelt, inspiring, introspective and serene.

Following his well-received singles ‘All Good Things’ and ‘Speak For A Moment’, DeAngelis enters 2024 with his latest single ‘Free At Last’. Composed, recorded and produced by DeAngelis, ‘Free At Last’ shifts from the bold, upbeat and hard-hitting ‘All Good Things’ to a softer, smoother, gentler ballad. A simplistic combination of acoustic guitar and DeAngelis’ rich vocals, ‘Free At Last’ proves that minimalism can be more powerful than a “bells and whistles” arrangement. For me, the barebones guitar strumming captures the core of tender empowerment with the warm voice elegantly expressing optimism – but all with a spine-chilling vulnerability.

The moving melody sends your heart soaring to another dimension of heart-warming bliss; however, it is the theme that highlights the song’s profoundness. DeAngelis explains:

“’Free At Last’ is a song written about the many struggles one faces throughout life but can be weathered with the support of a loved one and/or higher power. The entire landscape of life can truly be incredible but seldom is it beautiful without sharing it with someone… I want this song to inspire people to become mentally and spiritually free and to surround themselves with positivity through their own outlook, accepting what we have no control over thereby achieving inner peace…”

In addition to the single, Matt DeAngelis released an official music video for ‘Free At Last’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
