L E T I – When The Rain Come Down (2023)

Reflective and insightful, UK-based L E T I captures the core of change in her moving melodies. With wistful whimsy veiling a profound intensity, the singer-songwriter not only soothes your soul but has us stopping to think about the theme. When we left L E T I she used the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice to consider the significance of patience in change. With the previous single ‘Change Is Here’, she focused on climate change and making a difference. Tapping into spiritual change, L E T I releases her jazzy new single ‘When The Rain Comes Down’.

Following her well-received tracks ‘Orpheus’ and ‘Change Is Here’, ‘When The Rain Comes Down’ is the third release of 2023. Unlike her work from 2021, the 2023 singles adopt a softer, gentler, more evolutionary honing of her sound. ‘When The Rain Comes Down’ is considered “one of the most representative pieces of songwriting for L E T I” as she fuses spiritual awareness and harmony in a permeable vividness – sonic, of course.

Similar to the lightness of ‘Orpheus’, ‘When The Rain Comes Down’ leans toward an indie-pop vibe; however, more substance exists in the sophisticated new single. Jazz-filled, a new style filters through with almost palpable heartiness. Soft, soothing and gentle, the sound trickles across your skin with a tingling sensation. Yet, while there is an ethereal ambience wafting along the soundscape, a bold richness slivers like a warm hand guiding you along.

L E T I’s sincere vocals slide through the light-hearted synths with effortless charm; however, it is the piano that enhances the charm of her intimacy. Veiled by the haze of sonic fog, a flutter of acoustic piano hints at a sense of vulnerability, fragility and timidness. The delicacy of L E T I’s tone carries these emotions…but a sense of optimism and empowerment is also found.

L E T I touches on change in various forms; ‘When The Rain Comes Down’ finds a way “where slowing down is a way to find ourselves and connect with our true nature”. The interplay and oscillation between light and dark, confident and meek, brightness and despair all reflect “the beauty of accepting life in all its aspects”.
