Vincent J. Rigney – Beautiful Human (2023)

Blending elements of blues, pop and rock, singer-songwriter Vincent J. Rigney is a musician with a lot of soul. A confident musician with a bold stage presence, Rigney is garnering a fanbase from his gigs but not gigs alone. With reviews on international blogs, radio stations and playlists, Vincent J. Rigney is reaching audiences far beyond his UK borders. Come with us as we delve into his music.

Inviting us into his world of self-discovery and personal journeys, Rigney’s debut single ‘Beautiful Human’ is heartwarming with a tale of personal love and tragedy. Recorded at Essex’s Lime Monkeys studio with producer Edd Hartwell (Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams and Amy MacDonald), ‘Beautiful Human’ has a sophisticated elegance in the arrangement. Yet, while there is maturity in the production with well-placed instrumentation and smooth textures, Rigney weaves in a rawness into the original single.

Toe-tapping and upbeat with a strong contemporary pop sound reminiscent of Ed Sheeran – something that is quite amusing considering Hartwell has worked with Ed Sheeran – ‘Beautiful Human’ has an easy-to-listen-to laidback vibe. Charming and heartfelt, the melody with its simplistic acoustic guitar approach is captivating without any bells and whistles. Moreover, the poetic lyricism is moving, tenderly kissing you on the cheek before you grin and blush.

One aspect I find intriguing about Vincent J. Rigney is his way of bringing the feeling of a live session to a recorded single. This may account for the rawness woven into Hartwell’s sophisticated production. Rigney notes that “when I perform the song [‘Beautiful Human’] live it seems to resonate with other artists I meet up with, even those who perform it in totally different genres from me.” I can easily imagine everyone resonating with this beautiful human in ‘Beautiful Human’. Bad pun, I know, but it’s true.
