Transcending Into The Unknown – Transcending Into The Unknown (2023)

What happens when you bring together three guitarists who have never worked together because of their differing styles and tones? Well, you get a trio who draw from each other’s experiences, backgrounds and influences. When it comes to Transcending Into The Unknown, those three “guitar geeks” (who happen to be family) really transcend into the unknown. Featuring Stian Dahl, Robert Dahl and Filip Dahl (an artist featured regularly on The Other Side Reviews), Transcending Into The Unknown shows the beauty of guitar as they dissolve genre boundaries.

Beginning with a bang, Transcending Into The Unknown released their self-titled debut single. Critically acclaimed as individuals, the lads merge their styles in this instrumental track finding (and crossing) the line between blues, classic rock and progressive rock with hints of metal slithering through the melody. A strong nostalgic flair flows through the song taking us back to the days of Santana, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore and Jeff Beck.

Capturing our minds with the timeless intimacy oozing from a classic rock/blues-rock guitar, the Dahls take you on a sonic journey not easily forgotten. Interestingly enough, while memories of yesteryear break through in ‘Transcending Into The Unknown’, a contemporary hard rock teeters on the edge of the arrangement making it both smooth and brash. True, the single might be more favoured by those who love a Clapton meets Hendrix tone, but it is equally intriguing for the younger rockers of 2023.

Masterful and mesmerising, Stian Dahl, Robert Dahl and Filip Dahl create a vintage masterpiece as Transcending into The Unknown. If this instrumental track is anything to go by, I sit with bated breath awaiting the next instalment from the talented trio.
