WhiteRoomNightmare – What You’re Made Of (2023)

The brainchild of self-taught musician Paul Anketell, WhiteRoomNightmare is a hard-hitting burst of alternative rock and metal fused into one. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Anketell has been releasing music for about two years with coverage from various publications and radio stations, such as Chordblossom, Metal Devastation Radio, and The Razors Edge. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘What You’re Made Of’.

Following his track ‘Are You Happy Now?’, WhiteRoomNightmare blasts into 2023 with his song ‘What You’re Made Of’. Similar to the previous material, there is a hard-hitting quality to the new single; however, ‘What You’re Made Of’ appears to have a heavier, gruffer and more provocative metal sound. Pounding drums meet dynamic guitars building a breath-taking and soul-stirring melody hitting you directly between the eyes. The incorporation of gritty vocals seems to capture you immediately while the guitar crescendo sends you off on a tumultuous sonic river.

The title of this new song is ‘What You’re Made Of’, and it so adequately aligns with the message. A bold, powerful shake comes through in the hard rock meets metal arrangement questioning you about what you are made of – do you have the stuff to keep on going? Anketell’s voice is softer than the instrumentation but it has an underlying strength to overcome the pounding drums and guitars soaring high above the dark melody. Interestingly enough, the song may appear desperate and harsh, but it is actually filled with a sense of empowerment.

“’What You’re Made Of’ is a pep talk for anyone agonising over whether or not to follow their dreams…. ignore the haters and naysayers and do what you love. As granny used to say, ‘never hide your light under a bushel’…” – WhiteRoomNightmare on ‘What You’re Made Of’
