Track of the Day: Anthony Benjamin – Home Again

From Illustrate Magazine to Senocular Media, Mesmerized, Pop Hits and TJPL News, singer-songwriter Anthony Benjamin is turning heads internationally with his honest, hopeful and raw music. I suppose this is brilliant for him considering Benjamin has ambitions to become a globally-recognised artist; however, I think his moving music would take him to international status even if this wasn’t even a glimpse of a thought for the lad. Inspired by the likes of Phil Collins, Owl City and John Mayer, Anthony Benjamin harbours a captivating pop sound with edgy indie-pop elements and soothing tones. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Home Again’.

Hot on the heels of his track ‘A Year From Now’, UK-based Benjamin retains his soft, gentle pop sound in ‘Home Again’. His influence of Owl City is highly evident in ‘A Year From Now’ but ‘Home Again’ sends old-school Phil Collins sliding through the soundscape. Yet, while comparisons can be made with this track, Anthony Benjamin’s rich vocals stand centre-stage as a unique feature. Blend the rich warmth of his dulcet tones with the heart-warming synths, and you have a track to be placed on repeat.

The charming melody can hold its own as a strong, um, melody, but it is the emotions behind ‘Home Again’ that captivate me. Filled with an intense vulnerability, ‘Home Again’ is profound but also light-hearted. Singing about being “home again”, Benjamin fills your soul with optimistic hopefulness of returning to the place you are happiest. To a sense of comfort and safety where you feel most relaxed, calm and content. Interestingly enough, while there is a sophistication in the arrangement and theme, the song is filled with wistful innocence giving it a tender touch.

Sincere, sentimental and enchanting, Anthony Benjamin sends your soul soaring with ‘Home Again’. I have only one criticism – the song is far too short!
