Maeleigh – Waiting For Your Love (2023)

Add a hyped-up tinge to Avicii with slight leanings to Calvin Harris, UK-based Maeleigh has an upbeat, heart-pounding beat to his music. Take a moment to add some Charlie Puth and Troye Sivan, then you have Maeleigh’s sensational indie-pop musicality. An up-and-coming artist, the composer and producer is carving a synth-inspired niche for himself in the UK music scene. The latest addition to his discography is the track ‘Waiting For Your Love’.

Following his EP Forward Thinking (Slowed + Reverb), ‘Waiting For Your Love’ is a synth-influenced single filled with chilled-out vibes. Tossing you immediately into a whirlpool of sound, you are sent from pillar to post with the melody. Interestingly enough, while ‘Waiting For Your Love’ is a tender, heartfelt track with a groovy ambience, the theme is a melancholic one. Touching on human relationships, the single is soft and gentle with joviality but expresses the poignancy of raw emotions.

“I wrote this song about a personal experience that I think many people can relate to. It’s about the struggles of waiting for someone’s love and the emotional toll it can take…While writing ‘Waiting For Your Love’, I received an apology from someone from my past who never gave us a real chance. It was a frustrating reminder of the years I spent waiting for their love. Instead of dwelling on it, I channelled those emotions into the song and it became a cathartic release for me.” – Maeleigh on ‘Waiting For Your Love’

Known for his brutally honest and vulnerable melodies, Maeleigh effortlessly connects with audiences on an intimate level. What I find intriguing is how Maeleigh’s music is an example of sophisticated production, however, a dash of innocent naivety belies the poetic grace.
