Audio Dope – Round & Round (2023)

Indie Shuffle once said about artist Audio Dope that “as the name implies, Audio Dope makes dope music…” – and we have to agree with this assessment. Blending various genres into primarily electronic beats, the Swiss producer brings a new sound to the trip-hop meets electropop category. We are not the only ones impressed with the artist’s unique style as Audio Dope has garnered a loyal following since his self-titled debut album in 2018. Further accolades include winning ‘Best Electronic Demo’ at 2016’s M4Music awards, as well as the Basler Poppreis in 2018. The latest addition to Audio Dope’s discography is the single ‘Round & Round’.

Following his single ‘True Love’, Audio Dope begins 2023 with ‘Round & Round’. A collaborative project with New Zealand singer Noah Slee, ‘Round & Round’ adds a tinge of funk and jazz to Audio Dope’s catalogue. When speaking about this collaborative effort, the producer shared that “it’s a dream come true to release a track with Noah Slee. He is an amazing artist….” Can I just say, that I am thrilled this project went ahead as Slee’s vocals elegantly merge with Audio Dope’s beats creating something utterly unique.

Unlike ‘True Love’, ‘Round & Round’ has a more upbeat, up-tempo melody belying Slee’s rich vocals. Think N.E.R.D. melding with James Blake, and you potentially have an idea of what to expect. Laidback and chilled, retro vibes ooze from this toe-tapping track; however, the single can get you up and dancing as well as laying back and tuning out in a kaleidoscopic haze. Audio Dope explained that ‘Round & Round’ “…is the kind of song that will heat up any room” and, with its nostalgic flair, it certainly sends your soul soaring.
