Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions – (Made It) Another Day (2022)
Hailing from the USA, Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions are an intoxicating blues meets rock ‘n’ roll foursome set to send your soul soaring. After listening to their single ‘Twisted Mind’, the lads were still rocking about my cranium when I discovered another of their sonic gems in ‘(Made It) Another Day’, and it’s not only my brain they’ve captured. Featured on various blogs like Lost In The Manor, Psychedelic Baby Mag, Sinusoidal Music, Illustrate Magazine, Edgar Allan Poets, and many more, Dranow and his crew are reaching audiences across the globe. Come with us as we take a gander at that tune ‘(Made It) Another Day’.
Following the well-received ‘Twisted Minds’, and preceding ‘Destiny Road’, ‘(Made It) Another Day’ is a slick, smooth and sensational blues song filled with passion and raw emotion. In an interview with Lost In The Manor, Dranow explained that ‘(Made It) Another Day’ “…is about the drudgery of life living with mental illness and challenges only to wake up each day surprised to have been reborn to face another day” – a sentiment to which many people can relate. It is this connection and relatability of Dranow’s music that fills his tracks with an intense intimacy, as is the case in this heartfelt single.
What I find intriguing about this single is not its slick sound but how it finds that balance between quirky, smooth and abrupt. A kaleidoscopic soundscape exists in the arrangement; however, a starkness seems to be present in Dranow’s gruff vocals. It is as if you are wading through this mire of monotony and are elegantly lifted out with a rough sonic hand.
Much like his other releases, ‘(Made It) Another Day’ explores the interplay between life, personal struggles, relationships and empowering catharsis. Sincere, sentimental and charming, but in a rather sardonic way, Gary Dranow and The Manic Emotions are naturally talented artists ensnaring every inch of your being with their outstanding music.
