Los Sindes – La Ultima (2022)

Described as a “newly formed band of crazy talented trio” (Saiid Zeidan) who “…explore the vast universe of post-punk music” (Thoughts Words Action), Los Sindes is a mind-blowing blast of energy wrapped in an energetic South American package. Before establishing themselves in the Sacramento underground music scene, the lads performed in other bands since high school. In 2018, Zito (lead vocals and guitar) and Manu (drums) decided to form Los Sindes but they took a four-year hiatus shortly after half the songs were written. Skip ahead to March 2022 and they decide to reconvene with Rodri on the bass. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘La Ultima’.

All hailing from different South American countries, Los Sindes describe their music as “a love letter not only to immigrants in the US and people back home but for everyone that cherishes the nostalgic twang of a chorus pedal” – and what a twang it is. Following the well-received song ‘Vecinos Fachos’, Los Sindes bring a Spanish twinge to their post-punk tune ‘La Ultima’. A melodic combination of looping pedals, obscure vocals and pounding drums, there is a harmonic synth-wave design to ‘La Ultima’; however, the energy and frenetic nature of the Los Sindes sound adds an indie-rock/alternative rock tinge to the track.

Brimming with the grittiness of the 80s, ‘La Ultima’ is a nostalgic throwback to yesteryear creating an almost palpable grungy quality to the tune. Similar to ‘Vecinos Fachos’, there is freedom in the melody, but freedom is also found in the theme. Los Sindes explain that ‘La Ultima’ “is essentially about taking a last stand and fighting for yourself, getting up from whatever struggle you are going through and moving on with your chip up.”

Sincere, sentimental, brutally honest and filled with genuine originality, the loud, proud and scintillating Los Sindes tickle our eardrums with ‘La Ultima’.
