Paul Vinson – Final Show (2022)

Through his single ‘Keep Up’, Paul Vinson worked through agonising traumas as he moved toward a sense of freedom. He is now turning his musical skills to love with his single ‘Final Show’. While the track appears to be a simple love song, there is a much deeper meaning that is just waiting for you to find it.

With a rather novel arrangement to the verses, Vinson takes us through chapters of his own relationship with his partner before hitting a chorus of naïve excitement and reckless emotion. Nuanced and relatable, the single lays out a story that we can all connect to in some way while bringing a depth of emotion to the tale. If the vulnerability of his last single caught your attention, the depth of emotion in this one is sure to keep it.

‘Final Show’ has an interesting movement in the opening that makes you feel like the track is trying to find its feet. The ground beneath the sound quickly solidifies into a foot-tapping movement that brings a light feeling of blossoming affection to your chest. Through the movement of the melody, you can feel the slow creep of emotion that has been woven into the vocals settle in your chest. At times, it feels almost tentative, only to grow in strength on the chorus as a burst of bright lights hit the soundscape. The arrangement of the music is perfect when paired with the emotional tale of the lyrics. You can sink back into the sound to soak up the good vibes, only to feel the urge to bop from side to side with the rhythm of the track. This all comes together for a rather catchy flow that keeps you hooked for the entire four minutes of the single.

Vinson’s vocals bring a feeling of awe to the opening as he hits you with that first moment you see someone you start to fall in love with. The lyrics have a storytelling quality to them that almost plays out like a movie in your brain. Each of the verses is a separate chapter in the story of the relationship, from the first meeting to falling in love and committing to each other. These chapters are broken up by the chorus which has a really bright energy that edges toward naivety. There is an almost carefree feeling to the soar of the chorus as you throw caution to the wind and shrug off what others think of a relationship. It is a really wonderful feel-good song, but there is a deeper meaning that rests just below the surface.

Feel good and packed with affectionate energy, ‘Final Show’ by Paul Vinson takes you through chapters of a relationship with a carefree soar on the chorus. While the melody opens with a bit of uncertainty, the solidity of the melodic flow strengthens as the track progresses. Vinson’s vocals match this movement with a tentative feeling of awe that moves into deep affection, only to soar on the wings of reckless emotion in the chorus.
