Bel-la – Nothing’s Gonna Get You Back (2022)

Known for her ethereal indie-rock sound that can send listeners soaring to another dimension, Bel-la is not to be ignored. Carving her space in a sometimes-stagnating indie scene, soothing meets profoundness in her dream-like soundscape. Compared to the likes of Lana Del Rey, there is a modern-day joviality in her music; however, a deeper obscurity exists making her highly unique. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Nothing’s Gonna Get You Back’.

Featuring in notable publications like Send Me Your Ears, Rising Artists Blog and Guitar Girl Magazine, US-based Bel-la is reaching an international audience with her haunting sound. In ‘Nothing’s Gonna Get You Back’, she explores the topic of loss using a vintage 80s dream-pop sound. She explains that “the inspiration for this song was really the sentimental of loss in general, loved ones passing, relationships ending and how even though these things are no longer in a physical form, they still exist so strongly around us and in our memories…” It is this desire to capture dream-like sentiments that enhances the sensitivity and intimacy of her music.

Light-hearted and toe-tapping, the melodic arrangement takes us back to the 80s with its retro sound. Yet, while there is a soothing nostalgia to the melody, Bel-la inserts a contemporary indie-rock edginess making her song eclectic. Interestingly enough, while there is a bright upbeat tempo to the single, there is also a sense of vulnerable longing in the lyricism. Bel-la’s dulcet tones send shivers along your spine building a palpable grittiness in the soundscape – this is particularly enhanced with the classic rock guitar solos bridging verses to catchy choruses.

In addition to her single, Bel-la released an official music video for ‘Nothing’s Gonna Get You Back’. The video can be viewed below or on her YouTube channel.
