Agenda 109 – Off Limits (2022)

Beginning with a passion for bands like Black Sabbath, Rage Against The Machine, Sex Pistols, Green Day, The Clash and Rancid, Agenda 109’s sound can be construed as hard, heavy and powerful – not a bad assumption. The brainchild of Swedish singer-songwriter Peter Bröms, now living in Guatemala, Agenda 109 uses life as an inspiration for his music. Featured on Roadie Music, Edgar Allan Poets, Rock Noticias, Less Than 1000 Followers, and various playlists, Bröms is turning heads across the globe. Come with us as we look at his intriguing single ‘Off Limits’.

Relocating can be difficult, particularly if you are moving to the other side of the world, but Bröms finds it “inspiring, positive and providing endless opportunities…” Recorded in his home studio in Guatemala, ‘Off Limits’ is a profound song with a loud sound. Taken from the album Frustrated (released in 2021), the single wraps tinges of punk around garage rock in its melodic arrangement. Definitely offering a more Sex Pistols vintage punk sound, the track has a distortion amidst the guitars and pounding drums can make your heart beat faster.

As with almost all punk rock songs, there is a complexity in the brash noise. Agenda 109 explains that ‘Off Limits’ is “…about unattainable love, but not necessarily about unrequited love. It’s an angry rock song…” While the instrumentation certainly presents an aggression about ‘Off Limits’, it is the vocal execution that enhances the palpable grittiness of ‘Off Limits’. It’s abrupt, bold and brash, so Agenda 109 is not for the faint-hearted; however, I would recommend not missing out on this sonic gem. I cannot wait for more from this talented artist.
