Kyote Radio – The Crown ft. Kyle Shutt (2022)
Drawing on influences from iconic classic rock artists like Black Sabbath to more modern indie-rock groups, Kyote Radio brings an edgy contemporariness to the sounds of yesteryear. Hailing from the USA (Texas to be specific), the trio is a high-energy, passionate powerhouse of rock, guiding listeners “through the forests of fuzz and canyons of reverb on the way up the mountain to rock and roll glory”. Featured on Red Rock Magazine, Roadie Metal and various other blogs, Kyote Radio is turning heads on a global scale. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘The Crown’.
Following their well-received album, Real Crime (released in 2021), Kyote Radio adopts a hard-hitting rock sound in ‘The Crown’. Joined by sensational guitarist, Kyle Shutt, ‘The Crown’ is almost four minutes of heavy guitar riffs, pounding drums and a driving bass sending you to rock heaven. From the first moment, you are tipped into a sonic sound by Kyote Radio, spinning about with kaleidoscopic lights flitting before your eyes. Yet, while the single has a strong classic meets hard rock design, it is also tinged with elements of heavy metal throughout.
While Shutt’s blistering guitar does hold prominence in ‘The Crown’, it is frontman Micah Paredes that adds a unique slant with his vocals. Rich and bold, but with a certain degree of grittiness, Paredes makes the song harsher, more abrupt and brutally raw. Moreover, the post-apocalyptic narrative pushes a deeper, darker and more intense message in ‘The Crown’.
So, what do I think of Kyote Radio? Easy – a rock and roll group that can have your hair standing on end with its gruff sound. By adding the unmistakable swell of Kyle Shutt’s guitar, then you have rock and roll bursting with overwhelming awesomeness. My one criticism of ‘The Crown’ is that it ended too soon, other than that, it was outstanding.
