MARTH – Can’t Keep Choosing You (2022)

Music has always been part of MARTH’s life from his infant years to now. As a session musician and music teacher, MARTH’s father exposed him to various types of music ranging from Beethoven to Santana. As a multi-instrumentalist producer, MARTH has taken these diverse influences to create a boundary-breaking sound. Establishing his musical career at a young age, MARTH has performed at notable festivals including Boomtown Fair and Utcazene Festival. The latest addition to his well-received discography is the single ‘Can’t Keep Choosing You’.

While his musical influences are diverse, MARTH has a fond spot for hip-hop. Describing his sound as a form of “melodical electro-beats”, he combines elements of hip-hop with reggae, pop, EDM and even tinges of funk. ‘Can’t Keep Choosing You’ is the first track off his upcoming EP U-niverse, to be released later this year. All the tracks zoom in on a specific existential concept that either contradicts or criticises reality – ‘Can’t Keep Choosing You’ is one of these individualistic songs with a universal affinity.

Collaborating with artist Mr Weazley on ‘Can’t Keep Choosing You’, MARTH has a bombarding style filled with electronic twists, RnB vibes and tinges of contemporary pop. The dynamic synths belie a rich, warm hip-hop vocal execution making it both upbeat electronica and high-paced pop. Unlike the previous track ‘Hot Like Sun’, a collaborative project with Toeknee Tee, ‘Can’t Keep Choosing You’ is more jovial, bouncy and less hip-hop-y (is that even a word?). This showcases MARTH’s effortless versatility in production style.
