Isle7 – Beeline (2021)

Isle7 is drawing on life experiences and emotions directly from the heart for their single ‘Beeline’. The track is one from their Old Council collection, which was written, postponed and made better during Covid. Packed with a driving melody, there is a groovy vibe to the track that makes you want to dive head-first into the band’s back catalogue.

The flow of soft rock and Americana that makes up this single comes from the musical brains of Scott Severance (vocals, guitar), Jared Curtis (guitar, vocals), John Ball (bass) and Mike Scoma (drums). As Isle7, they have opened for national bands in central Florida and had their music played on the radio. While the sky was certainly the limit for them, they balanced their day jobs with their music, taking everything to new heights during the pandemic.

‘Beeline’ hits you with an Americana edge through the guitar that opens the single. There is the lightest touch of country folk to the sound that strums and picks its way into a soft rock flow. As the melody forms its main movement, it pushes you down the soundscape. While pushing at your senses, there is a softness to the music that makes you want to lean back into the support it offers. The melody has a few lines that call out into the soundscape, doing their own little thing before coming together for that push on the chorus. It is wonderful, as this movement enhances the story of the lyrics.

While the melody draws you in with the guitar lines, the vocals have an earthy touch as they flow in. There is a great country-rock feeling to the vocals as they pull you into the story of the lyrics. There is a slightly wistful touch to the vocal performance. There is a heavy dose of affection in the lyrics for mothers who look out for you no matter how old you become. As you listen to the single, you are filled with affectionate vibes that put a smile on your face. The lyrics span an entire lifetime and bring the connection we have with our parents to life in an addictive way. The lines in the melody bolster the movement of the vocals as the people in the story go their own ways, but come together when they need to.

Isle7 uses an Americana rock tone to bring the affection we feel for our parents to life in the addictive flows of ‘Beeline’. The music effortlessly draws you in with a country-folk and soft rock tone. The vocals have an earthy touch that brings the emotions of the track to life.
