The Tiger Moths – Feel It Burn (2021)

Waiting is never easy, particularly when the person you are waiting for never seems to arrive. This is something that The Tiger Moths understand and have woven into the extremely engaging ‘Feel it Burn’. Through the pounding rhythm and electric guitars, they infuse the burning sensation of waiting for something that never comes into our veins.

With a sound that borders on the late 60s and early 70s, the band brings a modern twist to some retro tones for an amazing listening experience. The five-piece band consists of former members of King of Spain and have been moving from strength to strength since the release of their self-titled debut in 2017. With a fusion of alt-country, jazz and rock, they are forging a new path that has us eager to run after them.

‘Feel It Burn’ pounds through you with the first foot-tapping tone that brings a hit of Americana to your ears. The melody has this bursting arrangement that enhances that tapping and stomping vibe of the track. The rolling drums lead you to light piano lines that slide into the guitars. It is a really amazing melody that you can’t help but get a little lost in. There is so much happening in the music with each instrument getting a chance to shine and bring its bright energy into your life. Through all of this, you are filled with a sense of anticipation and the finger tapping nervous energy that only ever comes with waiting for something to happen. The melodic bridge later in the track is an absolute joy to listen to.

While the melody is enough to get you hooked to the track, the vocals have a country bar feeling to them as they flow through your senses. There is a really catchy vibe to the vocals that trap you even further under the band’s spell. The lyrics have a quizzical edge to them that is so wonderful against the energy of the melody. As you listen, the vocals really try and soothe the burning anticipation the melody fills you with. Together, they create a single that you are going to want to listen to again and again.

The Tiger Moths fill you with the anxious anticipation of waiting while trying to soothe you at the same time in ‘Feel It Burn’. With a melody that is utter perfection and vocals that hit all the right notes, the track is an instant addition to your favourite playlist. The Tiger Moths are able to capture an energy that we have all felt but can’t really put into words through this single.
