Lucie Lynch – Love Is The Only Way (2021)

Influenced by powerful female artists like Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Melissa Etheridge, it is no wonder Lucie Lynch fills her music with female empowerment and existential concepts. Playwright, artist and singer-songwriter, Lynch spins several plates at any given moment with elegant ease. While she has not been featured on The Other Side Reviews before, her reputation precedes her as I have heard her music before. Moreover, it is not just me who is stunned by her angelic sound but several critics across the globe receiving coverage from several international playlist curators. The latest addition to her repertoire is ‘Love Is The Only Way’.

Following her acoustic-inspired folk single ‘Rich & Radiant’, ‘Love Is The Only Way’ is soothing, soft and heartfelt. Retaining her acoustic-inspired design, the melody has warmth and richness in the wistful arrangement. Listening to ‘Love Is The Only Way’ is like falling into a bubble of sound floating atop a glassy lake. As with glassy lakes, there is a more tumultuous swirl beneath the surface and Lynch is fully aware of this context in her intricate, deeper content.

Soft and airy, Lynch’s vocals harmoniously flowing in with the sophisticated melody; however, there is an insightful reflection to the lyrics. Lynch shares that the theme of ‘Love Is The Only Way’ is “…to reflect on what is truly important in life and so the message of the song is simple but still so powerful. I hope the song can provide some peace for someone who needs it.” I can say that the personal narrative may be very intimate and delicate but the boldness makes the single empowering, hopeful and optimistic. I love Lucie Lynch and ‘Love Is The Only Way’ is definitely going to be on repeat for several weeks.
