Robert Vendetta – Without You (Quiero Quedarme Contigo) (2021)

It is with great pleasure and pride that we once again feature Robert Vendetta on The Other Side Reviews. Following our reviews of his tracks ‘Colombian Spice’ and ‘If It’s Over‘, we take a look at his latest release ‘Without You’. What is even more exciting is the addition of a B-Side track, ‘Quiero Quedarme Contigo’ – just in case you thought he was abandoning his spicy flavour. Featuring on Nova Music Blog, Obscure Sound, Pop Muzik, Nexus Music Blog, various online radio stations and some podcasts, Vendetta grabs audiences on a global level. As I mentioned, he is once again gracing our ears with something new – the single ‘Without You’.

Described as retro-pop, Vendetta melds funk, pop and rock ‘n’ roll in his tunes. After releasing the steadier ballad ‘If It’s Over’, this singer-songwriter adopts an indie-rock approach in ‘Without You’. Reminiscent of Coldplay and The Beach Boys with an underlying twinge of Oasis, ‘Without You’ is an anthemic toe-tapper of a song.

Not necessarily upbeat but with melodic joviality, the track has an enigmatic flow in its charming harmonies. What I notice immediately is the richness of Vendetta’s vocals and this is complemented by the soothing instrumentation. While the guitars and drums carry the track, it is the whistling at the end that adds that Vendetta magic to the song.

Taking an about-turn, the Spanish B-side ‘Quiero Quedarme Contigo’ has an old-school enchantment about it. Noted to be a “true romantic song written for a wedding”, the track has old-school charm with the contemporary lilt of Salvador Sobral. Containing the intimacy and intensity of Tom Odell, ‘Quiero Quedarme Contigo’ is a piano-driven single filled with a hazy ambience. One you are happy to lose yourself in.

In addition to his single, Robert Vendetta released an official music video. The video can be viewed on his YouTube Channel.
