Sweet Tooth – War Machine (2021)

Inspired by things like the breeze, the ocean and going to the desert to “rip through the dunes”, Sweet Tooth undoubtedly has a chilled-out sound. Featured on iHeartRadio, Chalkpit Records, It’s All Indie and many more, the trio is reaching people on an international scale. They have performed on the same bill as Post Malone and Foo Fighters and worked with The Used guitarist Joey Bradford – needless to say, Sweet Tooth is making waves. The latest addition to their critically acclaimed discography is ‘War Machine’.

Nodding to the 80s pop sounds of Blondie with contemporary Tame Impala, ‘War Machine’ is a swirl of bubblegum pink music. The melding of pounding drums and powerful guitars wraps you in a comfortable melodic blanket. Yet, while there is a soothing tone to this spirited track, the heavy rock-influenced guitar solos add a unique edge.

Buoyant and lighthearted, ‘War Machine’ has a joviality about its poppy melody. Thing is, the grittiness of the lead vocals introduces a harsher, heavier feel. Showcasing their versatility, Sweet Tooth transition from smooth toe-tapping to head-banging in a few moments. The crescendos followed by simple dips are soul-stirring catching you up in cascading harmonies.

Following their genre-defying EP An Introduction, the lads show innovativeness and boundary-breaking skill. With lingering optimism and joy, ‘War Machine’ is Sweet Tooth’s yummiest song thus far. I look forward to more from the group.
