The Institutes – All That You’ll Ever Know (2020)

The Institutes took us by storm with their single ‘Heal In Time’. They are now continuing this with their latest single ‘All That You’ll Ever Know’. The soaring soundscape captures a feeling of being on the outside looking in at a better life. Through the music, you are set on a knife’s edge as you are filled with hope of escape and getting a taste of the better life you are looking at.

Their first single with 42’s Record, it continues their catchy sound with furious rhythms and vulnerable depths. The 4-piece have been gaining fans as they soar through headphones and speakers with an infectious energy. Their enthralling sound is on full display with this single and will have you under their spell in no time.

‘All That You’ll Ever Know’ uses a wonderful guitar line to draw you into their soundscape. This is combined with the anthemic vocals that soar over the music. The vocals have a vulnerable edge to them as they search for hope and a taste of a better life. There is a slight haziness to Reid Zappa Currie’s voice that adds to the anthemic vibe of the performance. On the chorus, the emotions of the lyrics fly through you as the vocals take you to new heights with the harmonisations.

The soaring of the vocals is bolstered by the melody that creates the updraft needed to take off and fly to something better. The guitars add to the vulnerability of the vocals with a light tone that makes it feel like you could fall in either side of the knife’s edge. The furious pace of the music on the chorus is the last bit of propulsion you need to get into the stratosphere. The guitar riff close to the end of the track adds a sense of hope and is wonderful to listen to.

The Institutes fill you with the hope of escape while searching for a better life in the soaring anthem ‘All That You’ll Ever Know’. The vocals grab hold of you and send you flying from the first moment. This soaring feeling is enhanced by the catchy melody that leaves you spellbound for the entire single.
