Luis Oliart – Love’s A Lost Art (2020)

Hailing from infamous Los Angeles, California – that’s in the USA to be exact – Luis Oliart is a blues guitarist sweeping the planet with his dynamic sound. While this is his solo project, Oliart is not a new name to the music scene. As part of his band The Hinges, featuring Scott Page, John Steward and Hank Van Sickle, Oliart has shared the stage with A-list artists like Dennis Quaid’s group The Sharks. His music has also appeared in film as part of the soundtrack for the recent movie Avengement; as well as scoring some placements for TV slots, ad campaigns and video gaming. One of the latest additions to Luis Oliart’s solo project is the single ‘Love’s A Lost Art’.

Using personal experiences as his muse, ‘Love’s A Lost Art’ touches on elements of societal reality. Speaking to the current sociopolitical, financial and world health situation, Oliart addresses the influence of these factors for people on a global scale – particularly with the global pandemic taking over. The idea is to push the idea that love, passion and sincerity are not lost to humanity; however, the witty lyricism and blues-infused instrumentation shows it may be a little difficult to find love, passion or sincerity.

Weaving a web of raw honesty, Luis Oliart’s throaty vocals combine seamlessly with the blues-driven guitar. Including explosive riffs with pounding drums, ‘Love’s A Lost Art’ is a moving throwback to 1970s rock. Showcasing his skill as a guitarist, Oliart could easily be placed on the same level of Eric Clapton and Wishbone Ash – just a bit rougher with a 21st-Century edge.
