Track of the Day: LOA State – Same As You

Hailing from Manchester, LOA State is an alternative rock quintet making waves with their distinct and innovative sound. Playing their first headline gig at Yes Pink Room in Manchester, this band has gained a reputation for engaging music among an ever-growing loyal following. Fusing 90s grunge with 21st-century alternative rock and synth undertones, Sid Cooper (vocals), Luke Denver (vocals), Ryan Comac (bass), Tom Gorton (guitar) and James Cardus (drums) create a sound that is, according to the lads, “familiar, but still foreign to the place they have emerged.”

The latest addition to LOA State’s repertoire is the single ‘Same As You’. A follow-up to ‘Shaolin’ and ‘Blue Skies’, ‘Same As You’ continues the lads’ unique ability to include different styles in a single song. Starting off steadier with some New Wave tendencies, the track lulls you into a false sense of security before turning into a dynamic rock song. The duality of Cooper and Denver’s vocals add that “lil something something” to keep you on your toes but in an addictive state of euphoria. If Nirvana and Soundgarden were to have a lovechild, I think it might be LOA State.

“We delve deep into the psyche with ‘Same As You’ bringing those repressed emotions to the surface, uniting the self with the shadow to create a balance in life. Two opposing sides come together in realising they both feel the same way but have just been expressing these feelings differently creating conflict now harmoniously resolved.” – Sid Cooper (vocals) on ‘Same As You’
